Welcome To Our Monthly Newsletter!
In this month’s issue of “5 Things You Need to Know” we recap the Process Solutions Summit, announcements regarding a brand new manufacturing partnership for ECI and an expansion of a few existing manufacturing partners, an article discussing the benefits of utilizing IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) in the Oil & Gas industry, and a spotlight on this month’s upcoming training courses.
This year’s PSS went without a hitch! Read all about it below – including the results from our Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation fundraiser!
With over 250 total attendees, this year’s Process Solutions Summit was our best yet! Attendees enjoyed over 30 courses provided by industry experts, our trade show exhibition, and PTU (Process Training Unit).
This PSS had its fair share of good moments, but perhaps the most profound moment happened during lunch. As you most likely already know, 2019 is Eastern Controls’ 50th Anniversary year. As a thank you for 50 years of dedication, our manufacturing partner, Masoneilan, gifted ECI CEO/President, Cliff McLaughlin, a golden Camflex valve!
Another special part of this year’s PSS was our Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation fundraiser. We initially announced our partnership with ALSF in April and began accepting online donations on behalf of the foundation. During the PSS, we had various lemonade stands throughout our facility with donation boxes – allowing attendees plenty of
opportunities to donate to this great cause.
We are very excited to announce that in combination with Eastern Controls’ matching contribution, we raised $3,134 – far surpassing our goal! To those who donated: Thank you! Your generosity will help researchers find better treatments and cures for childhood cancer.
If you attended this year’s PSS, be sure to visit the PSS page on our website to check out the presentations you attended, as well as others you may have missed! If not, be sure to check out pictures from the event.
Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s PSS!

IIoT in Oil & Gas
What does IIoT mean for the Oil & Gas industry? Read on to find out!
The term IIoT refers to the Industrial Internet of Things, which is a network of smart sensors and analysis tools that enhance ongoing production processes by utilizing data. Similar to the term ‘Industry 4.0’, IIoT symbolizes the end of the era of “dumb machines” and the subsequent rise of smart, interconnected industrial processes.
Gartner, the leading research and advisory company for a variety of industries, recently released their information technology report. That report states that 53% of oil & gas companies have failed to implement IIoT technology and aren’t planning to do so anytime soon. This is a big issue considering these plants have billions of dollars worth of revenue stuck in uncommunicative plants.
The evolving nature of IIoT’s leading edge is both a blessing and a curse for the oil & gas companies looking to implement new strategies. Even though the ever-changing operating models mean
older and simpler technologies are becoming more comprehensive and affordable, these same models are becoming obsolete at a faster rate.
Regardless, without IIoT in place, decision-makers within oil & gas companies rely too much on smaller data sets – often involving a lot of guesswork.
Of all industries, oil & gas is one of the most asset-heavy and data-rich. Adopting IIoT applications will improve business efficiency, safety, as well as reduce the negative effects of having assets spread out in a wide area.

Saunders & PBM Announcement
Eastern Controls is excited to announce the expansion of PBM and Saunders to our Virginia customers! Read more below.
Both PBM and Saunders made the decision to expand their partnership with Eastern Controls to better serve the needs of hygienic and similar markets in Virginia.
PBM (Pittsburgh Brass Manufacturing) is a 110-year old company that began as a non-ferrous foundry in 1899 along the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh. In the 1950s, the company shifted its focus to developing specialty Ball Valves where today they are the leading producer of dependable, high-quality valves.
Saunders has led the way in providing class-leading fluid handling solutions to a diverse range of critical industries since P.K Saunders invented the original diaphragm valve in 1928. Saunders meets the challenge of corrosive and abrasive industrial applications and providing zero deadleg, intelligent sensing aseptic solutions to the Life Science industry.
We at Eastern Controls are looking
forward to providing our hygienic customers in Virginia with PBM and Saunders’ state-of-the-art products!
