Where Would Masoneilan’s LincolnLog™ be in a CCPP?
A combined-cycle power plant uses both a gas and a steam turbine together to produce up to 50 percent more electricity from the same fuel than a traditional simple-cycle plant. The waste heat from the gas turbine is routed to the nearby steam turbine, which generates extra power.
In the start-up process in a combined-cycle power plant, there is an extremely high pressure-drop – causing cavitation. Even though there can be start-up valves installed with cavitation containment, they are still ineffective and can experience an immense amount of cavitation damage throughout the process. Often the valve trim replacement in these valves is factored into a maintenance plan every six months.
