AUMA is beginning to change the face of the industrial sector through digitalization. They continue to create and advance towards the future of IoT (Internet of Things) with products such as the AUMA Cloud and Support App, as well as their improved submersible actuators with advanced diagnostic functions. Let’s dive right in and learn more about each one!
AUMA Cloud
In the last year, AUMA provided a solution for cost-effective asset management and condition-based predictive maintenance. It’s called the AUMA Cloud. The AUMA Cloud is a free, secure, and easy-to-use interactive web application that collects and assesses detailed device information on all AUMA actuators in a plant. The cloud allows plant operators to detect excessive loads or other problems at an early stage and take remedial action in time to prevent potential failures.
The AUMA Cloud analyzes the data and presents the results clearly so that plant owners and operators can take full advantage of the information. The cloud gives plant operators an overview of the condition of their actuators and valves. Any excessive loads can easily be detected, and maintenance planned based on actual operating conditions. If a more detailed analysis is required, actuator data can be sent from the Cloud to AUMA Service for remote diagnostics which reduces costs compared to on-site service as well as speeds up the repairs.
New Advancements in the Water/Wastewater Industry
AUMA has also made advances in electric actuation for the water industry with their new watertight, submersible actuators. These new variable-speed actuators can change their output speed during operation. Reducing the speed toward the end of travel avoids pressure peaks as well as protects the mechanical integrity of valves and sluice gates. Also, AUMA’s new FQM fail-safe unit provides a reliable and purely mechanical way to open and close valves automatically in an emergency, even without electricity.

These new actuators and the AUMA Cloud can provide substantial improvements to industrial plants in the water and wastewater industry. Plant owners can routinely check on the integrity of the actuators to ensure everything is functioning properly, which is crucial in this industry.
